Dear Friends,
To give you an update on our situation – all of the crew are still on board, desperately waiting to be sent home to their families and the loved ones, start searching for new jobs and move on with their lives. Luggage is packed, but every crew meeting brings only the same news – we still have not heard anything from the (new) owners, from the receiver and not sure if arrangements are being made for crew repatriation or if we are abandoned. It seems to be the last one. The receiver who up to our best knowledge is now responsible for the ship and its crew still has not established contact with the ship and does not seem to be concerned about crew’s well-being and condition.
We are all well and healthy. But we have little food left and it will run out in a week. We will be scraping bottoms of cans. We don’t have any more clean bottled water. But we are still connected to shore water and electricity. Astican Shipyard who shares the same sour fate of not being paid, keeps us connected despite the fact. They did not turn backs on us. Instead, they reached forward to give us any help and support they can.
They even offered to organize a Sunday shore excursion for the crew to lift our spirits! (Thank you, Astican!)
Then why those who are legally responsible for the ship now, failing a simple task of contacting us, informing us oficially on what is being done, helping us by arranging a ship’s agent for basic needs and sending crew home? Wish we would get an answer…
Yesterday we have signed a letter of attorney authorizing the ITF lawyers to act on our behalf in order to claim our money in the court and secure for the outstaning payments the company's main asset, which we believ is the ship we are stranded on.
Hopefuly the legislative process of arresting the ship will not take too long.
